My First Blog Post

 My name is Chase Aspengren, I'm 25, and I'm a returning student at LBCC. I am an apparel design major, which falls under a business degree. I am taking BA 223 to work towards my degree. I am excited to understand marketing and understand what makes an advertisement successful. I believe this will be very useful for me to know, because I hope to start my own clothing brand one day. My brand would be mostly focused on making one of one pieces of clothing that are made out of recycled material. Outside of college I am passionate about writing. I'm currently writing a book, which is set to be published by Penguin Random House publishing.

I found it so interesting because it involves the clothing industry and hip hop culture, two things I am very intrigued with. Adidas partnered with Kanye West back in 2013, introducing Yeezy's in 2015. This had been a longstanding partnership with rapper Kanye West, that dissolved in October of 2022. The end of their partnership was due to an outburst of antisemitic remarks made by the rapper. The reason this is so important is because Yeezy's were such a successful line of shoes. Listening Blog Post: Justin Mensinger

          Justin Mensinger is an apparel designer with his own clothing brand. His clothing brand is named after himself (Justin Mensinger or JM), and he mostly makes one of one pieces. This means the pieces he creates are one of a kind, hand made by him. The exclusivity of having an article of clothing that no one else will own makes his products worth much more to a consumer that is very into fashion/ street wear culture. The reaction from people who follow his work is overwhelmingly positive.   JM's value proposition is to create unique, fashionable clothing that is still durable, for people that want something no one else owns. Most of the comments on his Instagram page are very generic responses like "dope", "sick af", or a fire emoji. However, the comments that specify what people actually like about his products usually refer to his overall designs and patch work.
